How do you separate yourself from other candidates when doing a job interview? We discuss a few ways below:
1.) Do Your Research
Hiring managers are always impressed with candidates who know details about the company and the position. Make sure you read up on the company and read carefully through the job description. Bringing up details during the interview shows the employer you read more than just the ” About Us’ page on their website.
2) Consider Submitting A “Pain Letter”
Explain how if presented the opportunity to be hired, you can help the company solve that problem. This is called a Pain Letter, rather than a cover letter. In this, you briefly introduce yourself and identify a problem being faced by the company. This effectively communicates your knowledge and your problem-solving ability.

3) Create An Interview Strategy
Ask yourself what kind of skills you would look for if you were the hiring manager. Draft a rough outline of questions and answers whilst keeping the desired skills in mind. You don’t need to memorise your answers, but a general idea of what assets you have and what you would bring to the company will be beneficial.
4) Be Trainable
The goal is to communicate an intellectual curiosity and subtly let the employer know that you are qualified for the job. This will give the employer the impression that you’re willing to learn how to be a successful employee.
5) Be Comfortable In Your Skin
If you stay calm, and confident in your abilities, you will exude an aura that will put the hiring manager at ease and make them feel like they can trust you to do a good job. Even though this is easier said than done, you must be perceived as honest and comfortable in your skin.
