4 Ways to Keep Your Job Search Going During the Holidays

The holiday season is the best time to prepare for your job search in the new year. Although it is important to rest and spend time with family over this special period, it is also a good idea to utilise your time productively. Here are four simple ways you can be productive and keep your job search going during the holidays:

  1. Rewrite your CV
It is always a good idea to improve your CV. Read over your CV and make adjustments where needed. Focus on editing your CV in such a way that makes it easy for recruiters to understand the information that you are trying to communicate. When you start up your job search in the new year, most of the work will already be done.
  2. Update your portfolio
If you have a portfolio, the holiday season would be the best time to update it if you have had any changes in information. If you have completed any new projects, make sure to include it, along with proof of your work.
  3. Do a free course to enhance your skills
There are tons of free resources that can help you enhance your skills. With time on your hands during the holidays, it would be a good idea to take the opportunity to learn something new that will help you better your skills, or to learn a new one. A new skill or two can make a good addition to your CV.
  4. Take on volunteer work
If there are any community projects that you are passionate about that can help you improve your skills or add to your resume, do so in your spare holiday time.

When you start up your job search in the new year, most of the work will already be done.
